At NLPC we want to see God work in us
to make us the kind of people He wants us to be. He is the one who causes the growth in our lives. He asks us to plant the
seed with our friends and in the community, watering our lives with worship, prayer, study and fellowship, and from time to
time even a little weeding out of unhealthy activities.
There is no such thing as a perfect Christian this side of heaven, nor is there a perfect church. As individuals we
struggle with wandering thoughts, conflicts caused by time pressure and our stubborn wills that cling to earthly values. Nevertheless
we should all be growing as Christians and the church should be growing numerically as we see new Christians becoming rooted
in their faith.
So "Spend your time and energy in training yourselves for spiritual fitness." 1 Timothy 4:7,8
Our Five Core Values
Real
Worship
Worship is
a duty, but also a joy to a Christian. It is a privilege to enter the presence of the Lord in the knowledge that we are welcomed
and accepted. Even more important than worship in the church building is that we live lives which, by their standards of behaviour
and purity demonstrate our reverence for God (Ephesians 4:1. Romans 12:1,2)
Relevant
teaching
We need to
make space in our lives for God to speak to us through the Bible. This teaching then needs to be applied to our lives.
Passionate
prayer
Prayer is a
vital part of our relationship to God, the time when we ask Him to be involved in our lives and the lives of those we care
for.
Genuine
friendship
As a church
we want to be warm and welcoming to visitors and to care for and support each other, just like a close family. We will try
to establish quality friendships and authentic relationships with non-members.
Enthusiastic
evangelism
We believe
that many people are searching for the real meaning of life, and that this can only be found through a personal relationship
with Jesus. We are committed to letting as many people as possible know this both locally and internationally.
